Fantail Goldfish is the common goldfish seen in outdoor ponds and aquariums. The fish belongs to the twintail variety of goldfish. Fantail Goldfish is identified by the egg shape in various colors of chocolate, red and calico. Some variety of this fish is seen in blue and white colors. Though the fish looks short and broad as a general characteristic it is also found with a long and slender body shape. The fish has a pair of well developed anal and dorsal fins. Fantail Goldfish should be fed with rich flake food like blood worm, pellets, and daphnia for healthy growth. The length of the fish ranges from 2 inches to 8 inches and possess a life span in the broad range of 10 to 20 years.
Fantail Goldfish survives in temperatures close to freezing point making it an ideal fish for outside ponds. Aquarium or the pond should have a depth of 30 inches with a 10 gallons water capacity to breed Fantail Goldfish. Fresh water measuring 25% to 50% of the water capacity must be filled fresh during weekly maintenance. Number of the Fantail Goldfish in the aquarium must be limited to accommodate the length of the goldfish.
