Tropical Fish Aquariums

There are many different types of aquariums but generally when one talk about having an aquarium people automatically think of a tropical aquarium even though you could have fresh water, reef or any other kind of aquarium.

Choice of Aquarium

When choosing your aquarium you need to consider the amount of time you would be willing to spend taking care of your fish and aquarium. There are many factors to consider with the maintenance such as, filtration, temperature and chemical makeup of the environment. Saltwater aquariums are more complicated to maintain than freshwater aquarium because of the complexities in testing and adjusting the salinity in the water.

Saltwater Tropical Fish Aquarium

The colour diversity in a saltwater aquarium is one of the rewards you will receive if you are willing to take the time, effort and expense of creating it. Add a reef or living rock aquarium with tropical fish and various other species that are suited to a reef life.

To complete your tropical fish aquarium eco system you could add some popular and beautiful species such as exotic clown fish, damselfish and angelfish, dwarf or normal size. Crustaceans, corals and sea anemones will complete your aquarium.

Once you have mastered maintaining these fish you may want to venture in adding more complicated and harder to take care of species to your ecosystem such as squid, octopus and jellyfish.

Don't Forget The Snails

An addition of a snail or two to your tropical aquarium is important. Snails have gastropods with tiny tentacles heads. They help to clean the aquarium as they travel along the gravel on the bottom of the tank eating dead and decaying plants. They are also entertaining to watch.

Snails are hermaphroditic and as such are capable of self reproduction. One day you may have one snail in the tank and the next you could have two. Depending on the snail type some can fertilize their own eggs while others self reproduce in other ways.

You may be able to spot you snail laying eggs as they do this in a gelatinous mass around the base of a rocky or shadowy protected area if the tropical fish aquarium.
