Salt water aquarium fish have become more popular due to advanced filtration systems and the availability of information. As simple as custom aquariums sound, there are pitfalls so beware. Salt water fish can be dipped in freshwater which will eliminate many single-celled external parasites, and freshwater fish can be dipped in sea water to accomplish the same goal. This practice will not completely eliminate the risk of introducing parasites to an established tank or system, but will help minimize the numbers brought in. Salt water fish get sick too!

Fish from this family will be a good addition to any aquarium ; however, they look more effective in among corals and actiniums. Fish always appear hungry and it is very tempting to feed them often but this can cause all sorts or problems ' the most common being poor water quality. If nor corrected this can lead to sickness and death of your fish and inverts in a short time. Fish-only tanks require no special lighting other than that which will allow for the most optimal viewing of these beautiful creatures. A standard pair of normal output fluorescent lamps should do the trick, with the amount of wattage to be determined by the size of the tank.

Marine fishkeeping is different from its freshwater counterpart because of the fundamental differences in the constitution of saltwater and the resulting differences in the adaptation of its inhabitants. A stable marine aquarium requires more equipment than freshwater systems, and generally requires more stringent water quality monitoring.
